Del Mar Ave/Whitemore Street: Although vacancy rates are low here, your wallet may cry as Del Mar Ave/Whitemore Street have highest priced real estate in this central part of Rosemead. This locale features a high percentage of people from other parts of the world, but retains the atmosphere of an old-fashioned neighborhood. Many residents use bus service to get to work from this urban setting. $$$

Del Mar Ave/Fern Avenue: Single houses dominate this affluent area situated in a neat square just south of Garvey Avenue. This neighborhood boasts good walkability and is a favorite place to live for college students. Carpools are popular with most workers, making it easy to make new friends and save the environment. $$$$

Rosemead Blvd/Whitmore Street: Interstate 10 to the north borders this portion of Rosemead that has a combination of renters and home owners. The vacancy rate is higher in this neighborhood due to college students and vacationers who do not stay year-round. It is fairly easy to find duplexes for rent in this part of town. $$$-$$$$

South San Gabriel/U of the West: This is the largest neighborhood in Rosemead and stretches east and south from the city center. Rice Elementary School, Garvey Square Shopping Center and most of the Whittier Narrows Golf Course are found within its boundaries. $$$$

City Center: The heart of the city is found just north of the San Bernardino Freeway. Residents enjoy Community Center Park and the large Rosemead Square Shopping Center. Hi rise apartments and complexes are popular here. This neighborhood has a very low vacancy rate because of the demand for real estate in this central location. $$$$

Walnut Grove Ave./Hellman Avenue: Zapopan Park in this small neighborhood boasts two playgrounds, a basketball court, picnic shelters and acres of green space. Small to moderate sized houses dominate the market here, but it can be difficult to find available rentals.$$$

Mission Dr./Bartlett Avenue: This neighborhood is at the northern most end of Rosemead. Vacancy rates for apartment complexes here make it easier to find accommodations than in some areas of town. Most homes are small to medium sized in this neighborhood.$$$$

Valley Blvd/Walnut Grove Avenue: With most of the housing in this Rosemead neighborhood being owner occupied, rentals can be difficult to find. Most of the homes were built between the 1940s and 1970 and the area has a low number of vacancies. The predominance of single homes make this a very popular spot for raising a family. $$$$$

San Gabriel Blvd./Newmark Avenue: *Small, but mighty best describes this part of the city. Its dense population is composed of a blend of renters and owners. The walkable nature of the neighborhood attracts many college students and younger families. *$$$$

Hellman Ave./San Gabriel Boulevard: *The city provides the residents of this neighborhood with a unique opportunity for recreational activities. Garvey Park has lighted tennis courts, an indoor gymnasium, ball diamonds, restrooms and picnic areas. Rental options are tight here so start looking early if you want to live in this area of Rosemead. *$$$$

Temple City Blvd./Valley Boulevard: Smaller apartment buildings and single family homes can be found in this established neighborhood. Rentals run generally lower than other areas of the state. $$$

Rosemead Blvd./Mission Drive: Beautiful Rosemead Park and BHC Alhambra Hospital are both located in this small neighborhood. While there are apartment complexes, the availabilty of open rentals can be slim. Many residents in this diverse section of the city bicycle to work. $$$-$$$$

Garvey Ave./La Presa Avenue: One of the more affordable areas of the city, this neighborhood offers a variety of rentals. Residents in the neighborhood range from college students to retirees. $$-$$$

Del Mar Ave./Portero Grande Drive: This prosperous southwest part of the city consists of mostly townhomes and single family dwellings. Occupancy rates tend to be lower giving options to those looking to rent. $$$

Living in Rosemead

Rosemead isn't the biggest city out there, but the ethnic diversity provides a cultural variety of dining options for residents and visitors. The Asian history of California can be seen in the many restaurants specializing in Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean cuisine. The Latin influence is experienced at Cuban and Mexican establishments. Nightlife in Rosemead includes movie theatres, pubs and billiard rooms. Shopping is available at malls and specialty stores in the city. Nearby San Gabriel Mission Playhouse provides entertainment such as opera, ballet and performing arts. The city hosts programs for youth and adults including swimming lessons, musical workshops, dance and sports.

Hate that morning work traffic? Public transportation around town is provided by The Rosemead Explorer bus service. It provides affordable transportation around the city with many convenient stops. The walkability factor in Rosemead lures college students and younger families to find homes here. The many open green areas around town contribute to the opportunities for recreational fun.
