One thing needs to be set straight: Escalon is not exactly Las Vegas. It's not even Sacramento, which is roughly one hour away by car. Escalon is a pretty small place, but it's not without its charms. Located just north of the Stanislaus River, this miniature city of just 7,132 people (2010 U.S. Census figures) offers a range of outdoor recreational options. It's also just a few miles north of Modesto, which is where many residents go for both work and play.
One of the biggest draws of Escalon for many people is that it has a range of affordable options for finding a home for rent. However, if you are looking specifically for studio apartments for rent in Escalon, then you might be disappointed. The vast majority of properties are detached single family homes. Fortunately, the low rental prices might mean that you don't have to cram yourself into a tiny studio apartment in order to be able to afford to live. Why not take a look around some of the rental houses here? If you're from a big city, you might find them almost decadently spacious, but rest assured, you'll get used to the extra space -- perhaps so much so that you won't want to go back to the city! Southeast: It seems wrong to speak about leaving such an attractive community, but if you live in the southeast part of town, you will enjoy easy access to nearby Riverbank; just hop on the Santa Fe Rd and keep driving!

From art shows to community dinners, you will find plenty of ways to get to know your neighbors and make some new friends.
Sometimes, you will want to get out of this small town, and when you do, Modesto is an obvious place to go. Many smart folks have worked out that rental apartments in Escalon are a good base for commuting to Modesto for work, which only takes around 20 to 25 minutes, depending on the traffic on McHenry Avenue.
While you're in Modesto, take a trip to the Gallo Center for the Arts, where you can catch a concert or a dance recital. There are also theatrical performances -- both comedic and serious -- to catch and hold your attention.
Why would you live in California if you didn't plan to get out and enjoy the weather every once in a while? The Del Rio Golf and Country Club is just a few minutes' drive away, or if you feel like going a little further afield, then you can reach the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge in as little as 30 minutes by road.
In case you haven't noticed yet, yes, you will need a car when you live in Escalon. Getting around the city itself on foot is perfectly doable (Escalon has a reasonably good WalkScore of 57), but if you want to get out and about, a car is a must in this spread-out region.
