With a relatively low cost of living, Schertz offers a strong sense of community and is also home to a strong retired military population due to its proximity to Randolph Air Force Base and Fort Sam Houston.

There are some cons to living in Schertz, including traffic issues from both directions and a competitive housing market. Although the crime rate is close to the national average, it's higher than what some newcomers may feel comfortable with.
