Since that time, and even before then, Louisville has had consistent population growth, but it somehow manages to maintain that 'small town' flavor.
If you've decided to rent an apartment in Louisville, you've made an amazing choice; and we're not just saying that because you're here. Even though the city's perimeter has a shape that resembles a broken Rubik's Cube, the communities throughout the city are anything but broken. Beautiful homes make up just about the entirety of the city. Even the homes in the downtown area, which are often dilapidated in other cities, looks like an episode of Living in Suburbia. We're not sure if that's an actual television show, but if it is, Louisville would be featured for sure.
When to Start Looking
You might want to start looking pretty quick. As in now. Over a third of Louisville's residents are renters, and though there are homes to go around, you can bet that other potential renters are going to be going after the same places you are. Whether you're looking for a condo for rent or a large immaculate home, you'd be doing yourself a favor by starting your research two months in advance. This will give you plenty of time to find which neighborhoods suit you best and check out different rental homes in the area. After all, nothing good ever came without a little hard work. So get to hard working!
When to Make the Move
Just avoid the winter. Usually we'd go into the potential for heavy traffic and other factors, but in this case, we'll just say to stay warm. Sure, you might not be so bad off if you work during the middle of the day, but keep in mind that from November to March, average high temperatures don't even reach above 50 degrees. During these same months, average lows don't creep above 40 degrees. Worst part? January actually sees average low temps below 20. The main point of this, then, is that it gets really cold. Sure, Eskimos are colder, but why would you even bring that up?
What to Bring Along
When it's time to find an apartment in Louisville, you're going to need a few things to help out in your search. Some of these neighborhoods are immaculate, and landlords will want to keep them that way. Even the less expensive neighborhoods are pretty amazing, so make sure you bring along references from former landlords to prove that you'll keep them that way. Proof of income is also essential in this city, and if you can manage, having a credit report in tow will also do wonders. Make sure you dress up nicely as well. This is an interview to live in a city with a crime rate over seven times lower than the national average, not for a job at McDonalds.
If we were to say that you wouldn't love every neighborhood in Louisville, we'd probably be lying. If we said that there were specific areas that were flat out horrible, we wouldn't be able to provide any specific examples. The point is that you'll be hard-pressed to find a spot in the city that you wouldn't love to call home. Of course, there are going to be places that you love more than others, so at least read some of the following information to make up your mind. Don't make us feel like we gathered all this stuff here for nothing!
Northern Louisville: You will adore the split level houses that populate this area, but being adjacent to Route 62 is also a perk since you can get just about anywhere in the area along this road.
Southern Louisville: This area is less sparsely populated than other areas of the city. You're also adjacent to Metzger Park, and that's always fun.
Central Area: You can bet your bottom dollar that central Louisville is what contributes to the over 1,600 residents per square mile population density in the city. You'll find everything you need here, from restaurants to fitness studios. This is also the location of the Louisville Police Department and Andy Aljancic Park. Go ahead and be excited about how easy it is to walk to everything due to the square layout of the city.
Wildwood Park: The area just north of Wildwood Park is also adjacent to Route 62. You'll find nice apartment complexes, such as Chapel Square Apartments, in the area as well. Add this to the fact that many of the homes look like they were built in the past decade, which many of them were, and you've got a neighborhood that can knock your socks off.
If the great neighborhoods in Louisville weren't enough to sell you, the other features, attractions, and places surrounding the area should definitely close the deal. In fact, we're going to make you an offer you can't refuse. Read over the rest of this, and if you don't find apartment rentals in the area that get you excited, well we'll admit we were wrong. Escape to Nature
Constitution Park has a beautiful pond you can go fishing in and a walking path that stretches a sixth of a mile. The pavilion there can hold 20 people as well, but it doesn't seem to have any Constitutions parked there. A little false advertising in the name if you ask us.
Fido Friendly
If you can't go anywhere without man's best friend, at least Nickel Plate Trail is dog friendly. Take the little fellow, or Cujo, whichever you have, out for a stroll if you're so inclined.
Time to Rough It
Head over to Canaan Acres Campground if you're really looking to rough it. Okay, it probably won't be that rough, but you can always pretend!
Close to Awesomeness
Got a one-hour drive in you? Then you can head north to Cleveland and enjoy a day by Lake Erie. If that's not enough to get you excited, there's obviously a malfunction in the 'Get Excited' area of your brain. The cortex, or something else scientific sounding.
