Apartments in Alliance, fortunately, are generally on the cheap side, even by the Midwest’s low-cost standards. $500-$600 is all it takes to score a quality one-two bedroom unit that comes with a swimming pool, on-site laundry facility, balcony, covered parking, and furnished interior. If you have close to $700 to spare, you’ll be able to live the good life in a luxury rental equipped with walk-in closets, fireplace, and more than 1000-square feet of living space. Pet policies differ, meanwhile, from complex to complex, so be sure to do a bit of preliminary research about a rental if you’re roomie walks on all fours. Fortunately, at least a few landlords in Alliance couldn’t care less if their tenants share living space with a cat, dog, fish, antelope, or pack of lemmings. Just be prepared to pay an extra $25-$50 in rent each month if you’re a pet owner or a short-term, month-to-month tenant.
Alliance is, for lack of a better term, an “older” city, so you won’t find a whole lot of modern flash and dazzle in its various neighborhoods. Still, its recently developed west side is home to quite a few modern, family-friendly neighborhoods and rentals. Many of the more seasoned residences, meanwhile, are situated in and around the historic city center. Fortunately, there’s no such thing as an East St. Louis-like danger zone in Alliance, but we still recommend spending plenty of time in the city, getting a feel for its vibes and its residents, before signing a lease.
As far as fun and games go, Alliance is home to more than 200 acres of open space shared by 24 city parks, an eclectic, site-seer-friendly historic district near the Mount Union College campus, and a wide range of eateries, bars, and shopping hotspots. Factor in one of the Midwest’s lowest cost of living rates and some of the sweetest apartment deals you’ll find anywhere, and it’s safe to say you’ll soon be loving life in “Carnation City.”
