With a population of 9,038, inhabitants enjoy life in the famous Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 7,220 feet. The name of the city is inspired by the proliferation of evergreen trees that enhance the local scenery. The variation of temperatures may range from the low 80s in the summer to unexpectedly mild winters with temperatures hovering in the 40s.
Moving to Evergreen Tips
Evergreen is an amazing place to live, so allow three to six months to secure accommodations. Town Center: Town Center is an area consisting of small to medium-sized houses, rental homes and townhomes. Great neighborhoods may be found in North Turkey Creek or Starbuck Heights and Morrison. Locals like hiking and geocaching at nearby Bell Park.
Bergen Park / El Rancho: Primarily suburbia, the Bergen Park / El Rancho area is composed of medium and large-sized homes and rentals such as 1 bedroom apartments and apartments with paid utilities. Popular neighborhoods include Hiwan Hills, Tanoa and Hiwan and Kittredge. Nearby Genesee Park offers residents an opportunity to view the resident buffalo herd.
Wah Keeny Park: Popular neighborhoods in the Wah Kenny Park area include El Pinal, Hiwan Estates And Fairway, and Tanoa and Hiwan South. Home choices consist of medium to very large homes and apartment complexes. The Hiwan Golf Club invites members to play on its challenging 18-hole championship golf course.
Saint Mary's: Considered more remote and mountainous than many of the other Evergreen neighborhoods is the Saint Mary's area. The primary residences in st. Mary's consist of small to medium-sized homes and mobile homes. Numerous well-known mountains are located here including Mt. Evans, Roger's Peak, Chief Mountain, Squaw Mountain and Santa Fe Mountain.
Elephant Park / Sprucedale: Come home to the Elephant Park / Sprucedale area and discover great neighborhoods such as Evergreen Heights and Estates. Types of homes found here include medium to large houses and townhomes. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the close proximity of Elephant Butte Park, Dedisse Park and Three Sisters Park.
Brook Forest / Marshdale: Delight in the Brook Forest / Marshdale area of Evergreen offering a selection of comfortable medium to large-sized homes. Active pursuits include hiking the Maxwell Falls Lower Trailhead and visiting the Flying J Ranch Open Space Park.
Living in Evergreen
Overall, Evergreen offers a friendly, wholesome atmosphere nestled in the shadows of the majestic Rocky Mountains. The community is very supportive of the arts and includes the Evergreen Players, Evergreen Chorale, Evergreen Chamber Orchestra and Evergreen Artist Association. Evergreen is home to the Little Bear Saloon, a famous venue the often features national and local musical acts. However, the heart of the community belongs to Evergreen Lake, considered one of the best outdoor ice skating venues in the United States and a great place for boating and fishing in the summer. Local festivals include the Evergreen Fine Arts Festival held in August, the Evergreen Jazz Festival in July and the Evergreen Music Festival and Art Show held during the summer.
