Jacksonville, and Arkansas as a whole, rarely see more than one inch of snow. That’s good news for people from colder climates who can’t stand the blizzards of their hometown.

Make sure to be nice to your car during the move. While Jacksonville may be conveniently located near Little Rock for commuters, you will have to do much of the commuting yourself. There is one bus route that runs from Jacksonville to Little Rock, but considering the size of the city it’s more convenient to navigate the city yourself.

Neighborhoods

Gravel Ridge: North of Main Street and west of Highway 67. The area is mostly residential. Notable places include the Transvaal Lake, Paradise Park, and the North Metro Medical Center.

Toneyville: Between NW 1st Street and Holland Bottoms State Wildlife Management Area. It is home to the Southern Oaks Country Club and near Lake Pickthorne.

Olmstead/Warsaw: Has one of the highest vacancy rates in the city, so you’re likely to find a home in this area. This neighborhood is between Otto Road to the north and Tom Box Road to the south, and characterized by large tracts of heavily wooded land. This neighborhood has more of a ‘country’ feel.

Republican Road: Located in the northern part of town and northwest of Southern Oaks Country Club and named for the main road that runs through it.
