The town is home to a lake, called Timber Lake, and it's a lovely, blue outdoorsy type place, where people who like to spend time outside and enjoy beautiful, temperate weather year round will feel right at home.

However, Timberlake, while a part of the Lynchburg metro area and definitely a suburb, is actually a lovely little city unto itself with a strong community and beautiful scenery. The town is home to the beloved Timbrook Park, which, in addition to gorgeous greenery, also offers room to play sports, have a picnic or get some exercise. Just outside of Timberlake proper is one of the most gorgeous and historic natural areas of the U.S. This area is Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, the original Thomas Jefferson's plantation, where the former U.S. President used to go for seclusion and peace. The home is a National Landmark and a candidate to be a World Heritage Site. The Poplar Forest is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the Virginia countryside, or to learn about some very important American history.While Timberlake has its fair share of lovely amenities, many people like to escape into Lynchburg to have a good time. And it makes sense, since this Southern city is really a world-class place! In Lynchburg, you can visit tons of historic sites, including the Old City Cemetery, the Lynchburg Courthouse, the Point of Honor, the Anne Spencer House, and the Federal Hill Historic District. But you don't only have to enjoy things from the past. You can also enjoy the awesome museum Amazement Square, enjoy rock climbing at a state of the art complex called Rise Up, and see world-class art exhibits at the Maier Museum of Art.
