This part of town is closest to NYC, so if you're thinking of driving back and forth for work, this is the hood for you.

Northern Chestnut Ridge: This part of town is mostly residential. The streets are lined with houses and trees, and there are lots of quiet neighborhoods. If you commute into and out of New York, you can take a train in from the Spring Valley Train Station, which is just a few minutes from the center of town. If you do commute into New York, you can have every opportunity for recreation, dining and amusement at your fingertips. However, you don't have to leave home to find all the amenities you need. The town has some great dining, including Da Vincis Italian restaurant, Jade Village and The Ridge. If you like spending time outside, take advantage of Chestnut Ridge's awesome parks. You can play sports at Pine Brooks Farms Park or Children's Park. If you like swimming, Saddle River Pool Town Park is just adjacent to the western part of town. If you want to get around town, or you want to get to nearby towns, it pays to have a car here. While trains will get you far away, they aren't a very useful way to run errands around these spread out suburbs, and walking and biking aren't too popular here.
