Corcoran was originally named after Patrick B. Corcoran, an early resident from Ireland. Settled in 1855 and incorporated in 1948, Corcoran has changed over the years from rural escape to outer Twin Cities suburb.
Often confused with the Corcoran neighborhood found in Minneapolis, the city of Corcoran is, in fact, a Twin Cities suburb located just west of Maple Grove. However, the city still retains the natural beauty that has set it apart for over 150 years. Corcoran enjoys the distinction of being one of the only Twin Cities suburbs with a clear rural feel. This rural vibe is made possible, in part, by Corcoran's location on the periphery of the metro area. However, residents have also made a conscious effort to keep the country feel present in spite of constant suburban encroachment. Tractors, four wheelers and country music are all familiar features -- and locals are proud of their country status! View Corcoran City Guide
