City Guide for Richmond, KY

Looking for an apartment rental in Kentucky's finest? Well, Richmond is a good place to start. We've put together a helpful little apartment guide to help you get a feel for living and renting in this nice country setting.

Richmond is a city with both country-fried small-town friendliness and modern suburb conveniences, such as mall shopping, grocery stores, a really nice golf course, and a nice, old Main Street with local bars and restaurants. For live music, Richmond residents can head on over to the Currier's Music World on Main Street. However, the best way to pass time around here is with a fishing pole. Check out all the nearby lakes, rivers, and streams and you will find some great fishing holes, not to mention a few good ol' fish tales to tell your friends.

Cheap apartments and duplexes can be found throughout the city. Apartments can cost anywhere from $400 to $600, so there are plenty of rentals available for any budget-minded renter. Or, if you want to get a little more fancy with your new property, check out some of the new, roomy townhomes on Taylor Fork Lake, which rent in the $1,200 - $1,300 price range.

When it comes to amenities, rentals around here provide the bare minimum. You might get a laundry room and some BBQ pits, but that's about it. So, look for those rental properties that offer a convenient location for having fun, rather than trying to find apartments for rent with a hot tub, a fitness center, or any other fancy-pants luxuries.

If you’re looking for a pet friendly rental, then a little more legwork may be in order. Most apartments have varying pet policies, so you will have to call and make sure they fit your needs. Also, plan on saving up an extra $200 or so for the pet deposit.

Like the town, this guide will be nice, small, and simple. There's not a whole lot to know, but there's plenty of things to get into around here. So, come on down and check everything this city has to offer. Good luck!

What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with parking in Richmond, KY

Parking can be at a premium in some cities where spaces are challenging to find. Some Richmond apartments offer parking options, either outside in a common area or within a private garage.

Ask about the stipulations around the parking. Those may include how many guests are allowed and where tenants park.

Some apartments may only allow parking in front of your own unit. Guest parking may be in a common area for up to one person.

If parking is scarce, look around the area before you sign a lease. Ample street parking in a neighborhood championed for its safety is probably fine. However, it’s probably not worth signing a lease if it means battling for daily parking for you and your guests.

Research whether you need a city permit to park in the neighborhood. Look into the associated costs and what to do about visitors who need parking.

Some tenants prefer garage parking near their units. However, an open-air lot may prove cheaper.

Keep in mind that the cost of wear and tear from parking outside can add up. It may be less expensive, in the long run, to look for an apartment with garage parking.
