So, you need some info on old Actionville-Jacksonville, eh? Well, that's what we're here for. This guide will clue you in on the need-to-know renting tips, the profiles of different neighborhoods, and the best ways to pass the time while renting on the Crystal Coast.
Avoiding Traffic. You’ll need a car to get around easily here. Bus routes are limited in scope, and service ends at 6 PM. With that in mind, your traffic troubles will mostly come down to major beach-bound highways, as well as the congestion around the slew of shopping along Western Blvd.
Drinking Water. Don’t drink the tap water, at least not at most of the rentals around here. Get yourself a nice, big water jug and refill often.
Actionville. Head out into the beautiful nature areas surrounding the action of Jacksonville. There are tons of beaches with great surfing and fishing, plus the Hofman Forest and the Croatan National Forest are nearby, as well.
Central. Everything you could ask for in the city center: Barbecue, shopping, bars, restaurants, live music, and a boardwalk on the banks of the New River.
Georgetown. Just across the river from Jacksonville's city center, this little neighborhood is full of suburban houses on huge lots of land, meandering creeks, hiking trails, riverside views, and neighbors that enjoy gathering at the Marina Cafe & Marina for waterfront drinks and music.
Southwest. An uninhibited nightlife on the border of the New River Air Station, including a nightclub, sports bars, country music, and line dancing. For a more laid back area, look for house rentals in the cul-de-sacs farther from the base.
Northwoods. Just north of city center, this neighborhood comes with run-of-the-mill complexes, luxury apartments, and suburban home rentals with great nature views. Live here if you enjoy an afternoon at the driving range, hikes through neighboring wooded areas, or a simple small town kind of living with walkable streets and the nearby Onslow Mall.
Commons. This neighborhood has got restaurants and shopping to the south, the Hofmann Forest to the north, and plenty of rental options in between.
Pumpkin Center. A neighborhood of old, towering trees with suburban homes and a quick drive to the Hofmann Forest, this area is great for laid back, outdoors loving people.
Piney Green. Rentals include newer apartment complexes and suburban homes.
And now, a toast to your upcoming rental hunt! Have faith in your neighbors, skepticism in your landlords, and love in your life of American Freedom. Hoo-rah and happy hunting out there!
