Collinsville is an unincorporated part of Henry County that used to be part of Patrick Henry County before it was split in two. It's also where the county courthouse is, but most people call Martinsville the county seat -- - confused yet?

On the edge of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains in a region steeped in history, live nearly 8,000 people in the Census Designated Place known as Collinsville. Part of the greater Martinsville area with a total population of about 50,000, it's big enough to have a lot of the amenities of a larger city, yet it still maintains somewhat of a small-town feel. If you like watching cars race around in circles, Martinsville hosts NASCAR events.

Traditionally, the economy in this part of the state hasn't experienced the same kind of growth that the northern counties have seen. Daniels Creek: The southeast part of Collinsville that is nearest Daniels Creek is a mixed area of semi-rural homes with manufactured home parks and small apartment complexes, as well as single-family homes on relatively large lots.

Kings Mountain Road : As this major road, also called Highway 174, courses northeast, it leaves the main part of town and passes over to rural areas fairly quickly. You will find parts where it's possible to find a duplex for rent.

Virginia Avenue: The main road through town, Virginia Avenue is where you will find almost all of the shops and retail spaces. Just off the main drag are properties where you can find an apartment home for rent.

Living in Collinsville

The climate here features hot and humid summers, crisp fall weeks with lots of color, and cool winters that don't usually have too much snow. While every tourist brochure or website touts the NASCAR track, there is more to life here. Great hiking and biking trails are nearby, and the Virginia Museum of Natural History is in Martinsville. Many historical sites dating back to before the Revolutionary War await the history buff in you.
