When to Make the Move

People... it's the South for crying out loud. Sure, you can move here any time, but if you don't want to sweat like a pig during the move, you might want to avoid the summer. The average high temperatures are over 90 degrees during July and August. Keep in mind: that's the average. Back in 2007, temperatures actually rose to 106 degrees in the city. Since the biggest nearby city, Memphis, is a half hour away and the biggest festival inside Millington is known as Goat Days, you can rest assured that you likely won't have to worry about avoiding huge influxes of traffic when moving in after you manage to find an apartment in Millington.

What to Bring Along

You can rest assured that any landlord in Millington is going to want to know that you're able to pay your bills and aren't going to ruin the place. After all, they know the crime rate is a bit higher than in the rest of the country, and they definitely aren't going to want their property to be involved in anything fishy. So behave yourself! Bring along references from prior landlords, assuming they're positive, and proof of a steady income. Do you want to really stand out from the crowd? Well you better since you're probably competing with a few other people if you chose one of the many nice rental apts in the area. Millington Neighborhoods

We hope you didn't get worried about us mentioning the crime rate earlier. Buck up now! It's usually higher in the south anyway, but there are numerous areas in every southern city and town that offer a variety of perks. This definitely holds true in Millington, so calm it down a bit. The following areas all have beautiful homes, and when you combine it with some of the city features, you'll pretty much find one of your life's dream homes.

Twin Oaks Neighborhood Association: This is a large area southeast of Millington. You'll be far off the beaten path, but remember the nicer neighborhoods we were talking about earlier? This is one that we were talking about. Seriously, these houses are large and in charge; and the yards are so big that you could golf off the roof without hitting your neighbor's home. Actually, we can't guarantee that, so don't try.

Big Creek Church Road: You might as well call most of this area "The Land of Double Garage Homes". Because there's lots of them. It's highly, HIGHLY residential in this area, but since you're right next to Aycock Park, you'll still have something to do. Oh, and since Interstate 269 is adjacent, your morning commute should be very easy. Go ahead and hit the snooze button once more.

Eastern Millington: There are numerous remnants of a once epic naval presence in the area, including the Millington Regional Jetport, in this area. A few areas are only a 13 minute walk into the main part of town, so that's always nice. Please don't try to hit any departing jets from Glen Eagle Golf Course, though. You're very likely to fail, and even if you don't, the FAA or Navy will likely make sure you still do.

City Center: This is where you want to be if you want access to absolutely everything. Millington South Park is here. The Millington Memorial Stadium is here. Even the public library is here. Add that to the Plaza Center Shopping Center being located here as well, and you're pretty much covered for everything. Oh, and if you're looking for apartments for rent, both Cross Creek Apartments and Big Creek Apartments are nearby.

Living in Millington

The neighborhoods in Millington are awesome; there's just no denying that. So don't even try. When it comes to the rest of the city, though, residents still aren't disappointed. Heading from one's beautiful rental home to some of the most fun spots in Tennessee only takes a few minutes. For once in these cities with nearby larger cities, it's not even necessary to drive to the larger metropolitan area. Suck on that Memphis!

Start Your Engines

Usually any raceway you go to will either have a drag strip or a NASCAR-like oval. Memphis International Raceway, though, has both. So head out whenever they're holding an event and experience the real southern lifestyle.

Community Events

There's plenty going on around the community, but you're most likely to enjoy Goat Days. This event takes place during September at the USA Stadium. There's a goat chariot race. That should be enough to get you there at least once. Of course, there are tractor pulls and other events as well, so stay for a spell (that's southern for "a while").

Get Out to Nature

Sure, staying in your house rental is always enjoyable, but you need to get out and enjoy nature.
