Middle Valley Apartment Renter's Guide
"Tennessee, Tennessee / There ain't no place I'd rather be" from "Tennessee Jed" by the Grateful Dead
Middle Valley, Tennessee is considered part of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Statistical Area. It's an unincorporated community in Hamilton County with a population of about 13,000, located at the southern end of the state near the Georgia and Alabama state lines. Middle Valley, also referred to as Middle Valley Estates on some maps, is about 10 minutes up the road from Hixson, a northern suburb of Chattanooga where many Middle Valley residents commute to work and to shop for basic needs, like groceries and clothing. The community of Middle Valley is what many people in the south refer to as an "acreage," meaning it's an area full of homes on large lots without any real city center or central business district. So, if you like the idea of living in a rural community (and lower rental rates!) with enough space to clearly see the stars twinkling at night in the Southern sky, but still close enough to the big city and all of its amenities, Middle Valley could be the ideal location for you.

Moving to Middle Valley
Middle Valley is a true bedroom community. It does not have any apartment communities or distinguishable neighborhoods locating luxury apartments is out of the question. Rental housing is difficult, at best, to find in Middle Valley, according to a spokesperson for The Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors, although there are a few rental homes scattered throughout the area. Rental homes in Middle Valley are located in mostly unnamed, suburban-style neighborhoods with a significant amount of distance between neighbors. That being said, there are no true neighborhoods in Middle Valley, so if you're looking for rental apartments, you're likely to find that there just are not that many choices. So, it's a good idea to plan ahead and start looking for a home well in advance of your move.
Regardless of what you're looking for, come prepared with specific documents such as copies of your IDs, letters of reference, proof of employment, and a handy dandy blank check.
Living in Middle Valley
Middle Valley, while not very large in scale at 10.8 square miles, is widely spread out, making it necessary to own your own automobile if you plan to move here. Additionally, there are no public transportation routes leading to or from Middle Valley. The closest bus line, found to the south in Hixson, will take you into Chattanooga, but you still would have to drive there and find a place to park.
The north end of Middle Valley consists of winding country roads and newer single-family homes. If you drive northwest for about 10 minutes on Daisy Dallas Rd. you'll run into the town of Soddy Daisy, another location where Middle Valley residents go to shop for basic necessities. To the northeast lies Sequoyah Nuclear Generating Station, a nuclear power plant that sits on the banks of the Tennessee River, which employs many residents of Middle Valley.
Speaking of the Tennessee River, which lies just to the east of Middle Valley, residents often take advantage of many water-themed recreation opportunities available here, like boating, fishing, swimming= and water skiing, to name a few. The Tennessee River also flows into nearby Dallas Bay, which is where you will find Middle Valley's two public parks Chester Frost Park and Hamilton County Park, both part of the Hamilton County Park system. Chester Frost Park allows camping beginning April 1 on both waterfront and inland sites, while Hamilton County Park has RV sites with electrical hookups.
Chickamauga Creek, a popular location for fishing, winds through the western edge of Middle Valley. There's really not much else to find on the west side of town, except for Highway 27 / 29, which takes you to Chattanooga. Middle Valley is only about 15 miles northeast of Chattanooga, but it takes more like 30 minutes to drive (one way) when factoring in the traffic you'll encounter on Highway 27 / 29. Many residents of Middle Valley like to head into Chattanooga to take advantage of its countless options for entertainment.
But if you're just looking for a place to eat, there are plenty of options nearby. Check out New China, La Fiesta Mexican Grill, Armando's Restaurant or Southern BBQ.
