Moving to Lewisburg

You'll find the cost of living to be a gift--a gift that is 13% lower than the rest of the state, making Lewisburg a pretty decent spot to settle down in. Expect average summer temps to reach 79 or higher. The temperature rarely falls below freezing. You hear that, ice-o-phobes? No snowmen for you! There will be rain, however, especially in May, when the average precipitation climbs to about 3.7 inches.

As for job opportunities, some of the most steady positions can be found within government utilities, such as gas, water, and electricity departments.

Now for some trivia. Did you know the town was named after Lewis and Clark's Meriweather Lewis? We're guessing Lewisburg probably sounded better than Meriweatherburg. In any case, the name reflects a certain folksy Americana that can be found in its events.

Neighborhoods in Lewisburg

Lincoln Park: The cheapest neighborhood in Lewisburg is also the smallest, so act quickly if you want to live here. However, with such a tight-knit sense of community, you'll probably be friends with everyone before you know it!

Coleman Heights and Marshall Heights: Adjacent to Lincoln Park is the Coleman Heights / Marshall Heights area, the second smallest neighborhood. While the residents may not be as close as those in Lincoln Park, you'll still enjoy the friendliness if you ever need a lift to work.

Berlin and Belfast: And then there's the Berlin / Belfast area. Despite what the name may suggest, you're not in some swanky part of Europe where young men in suits blast techno music until 5 in the morning. This is the largest neighborhood and also the most expensive one in which to live. Vacancies are pretty low, and when you do find one, you're likely to pay less than you would for any other part of the state. However, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Goats, Music, and More

There's nothing better than goats and music. Or is there? Yes, there is! More! The annual festival takes place in the Spring and honors the goats of Tennessee. We all know if there are creatures who are dishonored time and time again in any state, it's goats. The "More" in the title refers to food, games, arts and crafts, kid-friendly activities, and, well, more. It's actually a wonderful event the whole family can enjoy. If you enjoy goats, you'll love it even more. Ditto if you enjoy music. In the past, the festival has booked such Southern luminaries as Charlie Daniels, the Bellamy Brothers, and Wet Willie. Don't laugh. Wet Willie is a serious artist.

The festival is just one of the events held each year that bring together folk from the community. It's one of the things that makes Lewisburg such a cozy town. If nothing else, you'll find a booming pride in the heart of southern middle Tennessee.
