City Guide for Goshen, NY

Love a good ghost story? The village of Goshen, New York, is renown for the hanging of British Loyalist outlaw Claudius Smith. This ne'er-do-well raided the countryside of Goshen during the American Revolutionary War along with the Mohawk Indian Chief Joseph Brant. Clearly, that escapade did not go over very well. His skull is said to be buried somewhere within the walls of the historic Presbyterian Church.

The village of Goshen is settled within the greater Town of Goshen. It is also the county seat of Orange County, New York. Originally settled in 1714 with a population of just over 3000, it was finally incorporated in 1809. The village has continued to grow over the years to its current population of 5,454, as of the 2010 census. Boasting both a rich historical background, a mostly agricultural industry, and being just 50 miles northwest of New York City, the city gives residents easy access to both country and city. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with balconies in Goshen, NY

Balconies are a coveted amenity for many renters looking for high-rise views and opportunities for fresh air. However, you should keep in mind that balconies often come with restrictions.

Before signing a lease, ask about how many people can be on the balcony at once. Also, ask about whether you’re allowed to store a bike or other items.

You’ll also want to know about any maintenance schedules. Using your balcony as storage could result in fines and intervention from your property management.

Keep in mind that not all balconies are created equally. You may discover the views of the parking area are less than optimal or reduce your overall privacy.

Balconies can also get messy with debris, foliage, dirt, and pollen depending on your location. Renters are typically responsible for any clean-up and basic balcony upkeep.

Regardless of the issues to keep in mind, balconies are usually a big win for Goshen renters. Ask about apartments on higher floors for the best views.
