West Chicago is a small city with just over 27,000 people. It's a nice place to live with plenty of economic opportunity both in West Chicago and nearby Chicago-proper. Known mostly for its small town and friendly atmosphere, this is an old railroad town that got its start from the settlers who remained after the railroad camps moved on west.

As the saying goes, hang on to your hats! The Chicago influence can be readily seen when it comes time to rent a place. Put together a portfolio with references and recommendations. Be sure to include references and recommendations for your pets and include a recent vaccination slip from your vet, if you have one. Expect to have both credit and background checks done. Oddly enough, it's not as expensive as you might think to move to West Chicago. It's not going to be anything like Chicago or one of the coasts. Rents are reasonable and finding a studio with all bills paid is certainly possible. Be ready to pay the ever popular security deposit, a pet deposit if you have pets and utility deposits.

West Chicago has its own tourist attractions as well. The city is home to Kline Creek Farm, a living history farm from the 1890's, as well as West Chicago Prairie Forest Reserve -- both great places for people who like to spend time in the outdoors. West Chicago is a great destination for anyone who wants to have lovely, country-feeling home with easy access to big, urban city areas.
