Indian Trail, NC Apartment Renter's Guide

"Indian Trail where the train does roll / There’s some word still left untold / I saw nothing that I can tell / On the banks of the Indian Trail." (- The Steel Wheels, “Indian Trail”)

Named after the Native American path that meanders around the area, Indian Trail is one interesting town located in the southern part of North Carolina's Piedmont region. It used to be a farm community, but the influx of European settlers gradually brought changes to the area. The town retained a tinge of its rural charm amidst the urban developments. If you’re one to see the beauty of such a combination, it's time to start an apartment search.

Thanks to an average vacancy rate of 4.29 percent, fussy renters will have a tough time finding a home in this area. Here are some tips to give you a better shot at finding an apartment that suits your fancy:

Give Yourself Time

Unless you’re okay with the prospect of spending some nights at a hotel or sleeping on your friend’s couch, it’s best to look for a place at least a month or two before your scheduled move in date.

Prepare Your Funds

It may take weeks, days, or hours to find the perfect apartment in this town. Regardless, you should be prepared to plunk down the cash if you find a deal. If it’s such a deal, chances are many others renters will be after it too. A 3-bedroom apartment in this town would cost about as much as the rest of the state.

Get Your Docs Ready

For the same reason you need to have your funds, get your employment verification, previous landlord’s reference, and credit history ready as well. Most property managers will ask for this.

Details of the different neighborhoods are in order, so here’s an overview.

Grover Moore Pl/Old Monroe Rd: The good thing in this neighborhood? The rent. Period. For an average rental cost of $488, you can have your own apartment in this area. That’s downright low; so low, you’d be hard pressed to find that in other areas in North Carolina.
