"Practicin' for my shows, that's usually how it goes /We be ready to go, the chronic already rolled /Swingin through O'Fallon Sounds, knockin' out of control" - (Nelly, "St. Louie")
O'Fallon is now the fastest growing community in the St. Louis metro area. In an area of just under 30,000 people, O'Fallon is growing rapidly but is still a great place to live with decent prices for apartments. There is good public transportation and this is one of the few areas of Southern Illinois where there is job growth most of the time.
This is not a tough job, really

This is not a tough job, really. Renting an apartment here is much like anywhere else, just not quite as stressful. Good credit helps but there are enough vacant apartments that it's not essential. Filling out your rental application and being ready to drop a security deposit on the spot does wonders for mitigating any black marks on your credit file.
How Much Will it Cost?
This is the Midwest. Need we say more? Here, you can generally get away with paying far less for an apartment than you would if you lived on one of the coasts. While there are distinct neighborhoods, the reality is that there isn't much of a cost of living difference between them.
There are seven distinct neighborhoods in O'Fallon. Take a look, and then find yourself a place to live.
**Carbon/Glenview:**If you are looking for the cheapest neighborhood, this is it.
City Center: There are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and shops, so if wandering about the neighborhood is your thing, then this might be a great fit.
North Smiley: Has a wide range of public transportation, shops and stores.
Whitehall: You will find it's a typical older area with nicely kept homes, stores and restaurants.
Scott/Troy: There is public transportation but everything is a bit spread out here. You will find the staples of modern urban life here: Starbucks, fast food joints, and cheap high speed Internet.
Fairview Hills: While home prices here are high, rents for apartments are fairly low. Be ready to drive everywhere you want to go; public transportation is available but few in this area use it.
Oak Hills: Here both buying and renting is expensive for the area. However if you do manage to get the day off, you can shop or golf to your heart's content.
