When excitement calls, it's only a five mile trip to Vancouver and only about 15 miles to Portland, Oregon. The latest census count puts the population at 9,790 people in a 3.83 square mile area.

The cost of living is higher than the U.S. average. Plan to pay more for rental properties and just about everything else, except for utilities. The cost of utilities is slightly under the national average, according to Sperling's Best Places. No big savings there.
