Great-tasting drinking water put Munford, Tennessee, in the spotlight on a couple of occasions. The small town was twice voted as having the best tasting water in the western part of the state by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts. Drink up!
Great water, plus a great place to live, is what you get with Munford. The city was also voted as one of the best affordable suburbs in 2009 by Bloomberg Businessweek. Described as a "progressive and vibrant" community by the Tipton County Chamber of Commerce, Munford is on the move with growing communities and a mission to attract more businesses. The 5,927 residents who live there have enough elbow room within 8.55 square miles to take part in numerous recreational activities, all thanks to a vibrant Parks and Recreation Department.
Moving to Munford
With the Mississippi River on the west boundary and the Hatchie River on the north boundary of Tipton County, moving to Munford means leaving the grit and grind of the big city behind for a regular dose of boating, fishing, canoeing and camping. It's a great trade-off for those who enjoy the great outdoors.
Housing Selection
The housing market is anchored by single family homes throughout an abundance of communities and subdivisions. But there is variety - from new homes with modern amenities to farms and suburban estates. What you won't find is an abundance of apartment rentals. However, some rental homes, townhomes and condos are available in town.
Rental Alert
In Munford, many homes are newer, with modern amenities and solid construction. So for some rental apartments, you won't have to worry much about issues related to property condition. But, before you sign a lease, conduct a pre-lease inspection to check out your potential new digs. You'll want to point out things that need repair before completing paperwork.
Pursuit of Happiness
When looking for places to live in Munford, time is on your side. Most landlords and property owners will work with you pretty much any time. Just don't expect their attention on holidays. With that in mind, give yourself at least two to three weeks to complete your home search and close the deal. Starting your search early is not a bad idea either.
Rental Readiness
Before jumping into any rental agreement, be prepared to deal with basic rental rules. Have ready at least one month's rent, a security deposit, proof of employment or that you can pay the rent and a summary of your rental history. Also, be ready for the background, reference and credit checks. Not every landlord will make you jump through every hoop, but be ready.
