City Guide for Ridley Park, PA

The heavy lifting Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopters used by American troops is produced in the borough of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. At just over a square mile, it packs plenty into the area which is also home to Pennsylvania's oldest community theater, the Barnstormers Theater.

Determining the exact age of the Ridley Park community is difficult because it served as home to Native Americans long before the official founding and naming of Ridley Park in 1871. The Native American pathways were utilized as the guidelines for the first roads of the area. These roads that are now used by commuters, Sunday drivers, and freshly licensed teenagers, have been traveled by famous historical figures. Chester Pike is the most infamous road of Ridley Park, having once been traveled by George Washington and his troops. Famous roads are only one facet of the transportation focused town. It was planned as a railroad suburb, as much of Pennsylvania's popular small towns were. In 1872 the first railcar loaded with passengers made a memorable first stop in Ridley Park. Well over two centuries later, people getting on and off trains in this bustling borough is no longer an anomaly, as many use the train to commute to the cities of Philadelphia and DC daily. The City of Brotherly Love is only 13 miles away, but at the end of the 1800s, this area was the summer scene for Philly's year-round residents. The stately Victorian homes that the summering city folk built still stand, but the town itself has become a year-round community for those who prefer living the small town life while keeping the city close by. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with parking in Ridley Park, PA

Parking can be at a premium in some cities where spaces are challenging to find. Some Ridley Park apartments offer parking options, either outside in a common area or within a private garage.

Ask about the stipulations around the parking. Those may include how many guests are allowed and where tenants park.

Some apartments may only allow parking in front of your own unit. Guest parking may be in a common area for up to one person.

If parking is scarce, look around the area before you sign a lease. Ample street parking in a neighborhood championed for its safety is probably fine. However, it’s probably not worth signing a lease if it means battling for daily parking for you and your guests.

Research whether you need a city permit to park in the neighborhood. Look into the associated costs and what to do about visitors who need parking.

Some tenants prefer garage parking near their units. However, an open-air lot may prove cheaper.

Keep in mind that the cost of wear and tear from parking outside can add up. It may be less expensive, in the long run, to look for an apartment with garage parking.
