The city's Victorian architecture has provided a long-time backdrop for Wild West style entertainment. As such, Guthrie has played host to many a movie setting, including the 1979 movie Fast Charlie the Moonbeam Rider and the main street was used as the set for various scenes in the 1988 movie Rain Man, starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise.
