What locals are saying

"Wear the Endwell shoes and your day will end well." This popular advertisement for shoes made by the Endicott Johnson Corporation in nearby Endicott, Johnson City and Binghamton led to the town's name change from "Hooper" to "Endwell" in 1921, when the U.S. Postal Service declared the name "Hooper" had already been overused as a town name across New York State.

Located in Broome County, New York, the attractive town of Endwell has a population of 11,446 residents, according to 2010 U.S. Census statistics, and of this number, 5,459 are males and 5,987 are females. The average age of residents is 45.2 years, which is above the overall New York State median age of 42.4. There are currently 5,421 houses within the town's borders, and 5,187 of these residences are occupied. Although the majority of these residents are homeowners, 1,365 of these houses are now occupied by renters. Within this area, 3.7 square miles are land, and 0.04 square mile is water. To the north of the Susquehanna River, Endwell is easily accessed by the major highways of New York State Routes 17 and 17C.
