Although Palos Heights is set in a quiet, rural environment, tucked away from the hectic frenzy that impacts much of the metropolitan area of Chicago, it's still well-connected by road. The I-294 (Tri-State Tollway) lies only 3 miles distant from central Palos Heights. The highway links the small city to Chicago expressway in addition to the entire highway system. Getting to downtown Chicago takes merely around 30 minutes. The nearest Amtrak station is at Summit, 8.8 miles away. Need to get away for a while? We know, we know: winter can be rough -- Chicago Midway International Airport is located on South Cicero Avenue, 9 miles from central Palos Heights.

Keeping Busy

Palos Heights hosts six public parks together with an Olympic-sized community swimming pool. There are also no less than 36 public and private golf courses within a 10-mile radius of the city, allowing Palos Heights and the surrounding area to claim the renowned status as a suburban golfing capital. The 68,000 acre Cook County Forest Preserve permits the city to enhance its contact with nature. Not convinced?
