Frequently Asked Questions

City Guide for East Moline, IL

East Moline is widely considered to be the fourth but not the final of the Quad Cities. Today, there are actually five cities within the Quad Cities grouping: East Moline, Moline and Rock Island in Illinois, and Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries there was a lot going on in the Illinois-Iowa region. During that time, East Moline was added to the Tri-City area, which included Moline, Rock Island, and Davenport, and the region was renamed the Quad City area. Interestingly, a fifth city of Bettendorf was added to the Quad City area in the late 1940s, but the term Quint City wasn't nearly as catchy as Quad City, so the name Quad City stuck around even though the number of cities increased. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with balconies in East Moline, IL

Balconies are a coveted amenity for many renters looking for high-rise views and opportunities for fresh air. However, you should keep in mind that balconies often come with restrictions.

Before signing a lease, ask about how many people can be on the balcony at once. Also, ask about whether you’re allowed to store a bike or other items.

You’ll also want to know about any maintenance schedules. Using your balcony as storage could result in fines and intervention from your property management.

Keep in mind that not all balconies are created equally. You may discover the views of the parking area are less than optimal or reduce your overall privacy.

Balconies can also get messy with debris, foliage, dirt, and pollen depending on your location. Renters are typically responsible for any clean-up and basic balcony upkeep.

Regardless of the issues to keep in mind, balconies are usually a big win for East Moline renters. Ask about apartments on higher floors for the best views.
