This is a small town built largely on trust. Renting here is generally not a difficult process and certainly not as difficult as a major urban area. What you have to understand from the beginning is that sports are very important to the local community. The games are well attended and discussion of the previous game dominates conversations at The Country Cupboard Restaurant on Division St. The food's good and the locals are friendly and eventually the conversation will drift over to the evils of Chicago if you hang out long enough.

If you like fishing then you will love living in this area. You are always within an easy drive of great fishing spots. Crab Orchard, Harrisburg and McLeansboro all have outstanding fishing spots. If you want to combine your fishing trip with camping and hiking, head over to the Shawnee National Forest and visit the Garden of the Gods.
