The Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State park is a welcoming attraction for city residents and visitors. The park hugs the shoreline of the Rocky Bayou. Campers who frequent this state park will appreciate the cross-flow breezes that originate from Puddin' Head Lake and the Rocky Bayou. The area stays incredibly cool, even on some of the warmest days. It's almost like the area has its own air conditioning system! The area also features some of the most picturesque trail systems in the state of Florida.

Camping is not the only activity that this state park offers. There are also two trails of different degrees of difficulty that offer a great view of the shoreline for area hikers. The popular Red Cedar Trail offers a short stroll through upland forests that are dominated by gorgeous cedar trees. The Sand Pine Trail is situated around the shoreline of Puddin' Head Lake and offers walkers some of the most sweeping views of the reservoir and the edges of the sand pine forest. Each of these trails total less than four miles and can be easily traversed in less than a few hours.

Another major draw for the area is the Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival. The festival has been around for more than 30 years, and is billed as a great venue for fun for people of all ages. Festival visitors have the opportunity to enjoy fine art and handmade crafts created by local artists. There is also a wide variety of food concessions available. Of course, dining options also include the mullet, a humble fish that has played a vital role in the local economy and ecosystem. The festival is always held in mid-October, on the weekend.

Like most coastal cities, much of the local fare includes fish and seafood. However, there are a wide variety of culinary delights located in this seaside town. From Irish pubs to Italian cuisine, it's all there. Cozy bistros, barbecue, fried chicken, coffee and Thai cuisine are all available in this small town.
