Apartment List Announces "Year of Free Rent" Sweepstakes

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (January 31, 2023) - It’s no secret - the dollar doesn’t stretch as far as it used to, while rent prices have skyrocketed in the last three years. That’s why Apartment List, the fastest-growing rental marketplace in the United States, is excited to announce the launch of its "Year of Free Rent" sweepstakes. The sweepstakes, which began on January 23rd, 2023, and runs now through February 28th, 2023, offers one lucky renter in the U.S. the opportunity to win up to $30,000 in free rent for a year.

The current economy has made it increasingly difficult for renters to afford housing, even in cities once considered affordable. Apartment List data shows that the national median rent in the U.S. has increased by more than 20% since March 2020. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, at least 19 million renters are cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than 30% of their income on rent.

“In today’s economy, renters are paying closer attention to where they spend their money, and they want to be financially responsible while living in a home they love,” said Farha Kraish, the Marketing Director at Apartment List. “This sweepstakes allows us to provide some relief for a renter so they can focus on prioritizing the things that matter to them the most.”
