There are some decisions about complexes that apply to any city. Here are some things to think about when you start to look for a Hastings-on-Hudson home for rent.

Water or Woods?

The great thing about Hastings-on-Hudson is that is has waterfront apartments for rent and complexes that are surrounded by the woods. You will have to decide which serene location best meets your needs, but no matter which setting you choose, you will always be a short drive or even walk away from the other peaceful outdoor retreat.

How Much Will it Cost?

Being so close to the river means you'll be paying a bit more, 12 percent higher than the state average, but how many people can say they live right on the Hudson? You can.

Getting Ready to become a Renter

You will have to schedule appointments at the complexes that meet your needs. If you think that you might be ready to sign on the dotted line during the showing, be sure to bring the essential paperwork with you. Identification and proof of income are the two most essential requirements when you are applying for an apartment. Some complexes require references and bank account information. You should count on having to authorize a credit check, and be prepared to explain any credit issues you have had in the past. Applying for apartments for rent can be a little overwhelming, but you can make the process go more smoothly by showing up prepared.

When to Move In

This area of New York is just a tad colder than the rest of the state, so you'd do best to avoid moving in the winter. While it's fun to play in the snow, it's not so fun to be moving a couch or heavy boxes in the white stuff. When summer comes along, so does the heat, and being near the river means it can get humid too. So the best advice we have is to avoid winter and summer, and avoid the rainier months of the other seasons.

Hastings-on-Hudson is a small portion of Greenburgh, so there are no traditional neighborhoods of which to speak. However, that doesn't mean that there are different nearby amenities depending on the exact location that you choose during your apartment search.
