City Guide for Lumberton, TX

This resilient Texas town scored a direct hit from a powerful hurricane, not once, but twice. Hurricane Rita barreled ashore on September 24, 2005, and on September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike followed suit. Both storms affected the little city with significant damage, but that didn't keep the locals from surging back and rebuilding what is now, a thriving local economy and community.

Established in 1894 as a stop for the Beaumont, Gulf and Kansas City Railways that established tracks through the area in that same year, the town was not actually incorporated until 1973. Just north of Beaumont, the town is flanked by Hwys 96, 69 and 287, which branch up from the south. Lumberton's population numbers are projected to continue on a positive, upward trend. Part of what has attracted so many residents to the area in recent years is the undeniable beauty of the region. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with balconies in Lumberton, TX

Balconies are a coveted amenity for many renters looking for high-rise views and opportunities for fresh air. However, you should keep in mind that balconies often come with restrictions.

Before signing a lease, ask about how many people can be on the balcony at once. Also, ask about whether you’re allowed to store a bike or other items.

You’ll also want to know about any maintenance schedules. Using your balcony as storage could result in fines and intervention from your property management.

Keep in mind that not all balconies are created equally. You may discover the views of the parking area are less than optimal or reduce your overall privacy.

Balconies can also get messy with debris, foliage, dirt, and pollen depending on your location. Renters are typically responsible for any clean-up and basic balcony upkeep.

Regardless of the issues to keep in mind, balconies are usually a big win for Lumberton renters. Ask about apartments on higher floors for the best views.
