If you want to move to Latrobe, it won't be difficult to find apartments for rent in the city center. Further out, townhouses and homes for rent are available, though as you move south from town near the country club and airport, you can expect to pay a little bit more.
Neighborhoods in Latrobe
City Center: Downtown Latrobe is replete with character. It contains such delightful oddities as Mozart Hall, a performance space dating back to 1890, as well as community projects like the Latrobe Art Center, which provide a unique flavor to the town. You can find studio apartments for rent (and some larger), but if you're looking for a house, it would behoove you to look south of town. If you're looking for a town with a character like your quirky best friend, this is the place for you!
Lawson Heights: This is the St. Vincent College area, wonderfully quiet and suburban. It's no wonder the Steelers use the college grounds for training camp! It's quiet, tree-lined streets would induce serenity in even the most stress-prone city-dweller. Find a home for rent and live quietly, enjoying the peaceful vistas of the Laurel Highlands. If you don't mind close neighbors, snag a duplex for rent in a much lower price range.
Lincoln Highway and Latrobe Country Club: Southwest of town, find rental houses in a higher price range than the rest of Latrobe. If you're looking for upscale, this is it! With perfectly manicured lawns (like the greens on the Country Club links), plenty of old oak trees that have seen decades past, and marvelous brick homes, you can live in the lap of luxury in Latrobe, too. If you're looking down here, however, rent will be high, so be prepared to shell out a pretty penny.
Life in Latrobe
Mr. Rogers also hails from Latrobe, and the town has a friendly disposition that, like him, seems to beckon: "won't you be my neighbor?" Pittsburgh is a mere forty minute drive, for those who would need to commute, or Westmoreland Transport runs busses into the city throughout the day. The natural beauty of the area is apparent, even from the highway, and it only takes a few minutes until you can find yourself in the middle of a preserved area rarely found in the rust belt!
