"The town that almost wasn't." In 2009, many of the residents voted to dissolve the village of Johnson City for tax purposes. The town remained, thanks to 42 more votes against the dissolution than for it.

Located far to the west of New York City, Johnson City is a small town of only 15,000 residents who all live within a 4.54 square mile area. Although the town might be crowded, low property costs and plenty of local attractions keep residents content.
