City Guide for Brookdale, NJ

Settlers from the Hudson River Valley began farming the Stone House Plains section of Bloomfield, in what is now Brookdale, as early as the start of the eighteenth century.

Located in the northeast corner of Essex County, New Jersey, Brookdale is a census designated place, or CDP, within Bloomfield which is the wider township. Clifton is situated to the northeast and Montclair to the south and west. The CDP is well served by the Garden State Parkway which provides easy access to the rest of the state and to New York City. On a good journey, you can drive to Manhattan Island via the Lincoln Tunnel in about 25 minutes. As of the 2010 Census, Brookdale had well in excess of 9,200 inhabitants. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the total area covered by the CDP is only a little over one and a half square miles. Into this space, several thousand housing units are squeezed, so the population density is high even by the standards of New Jersey. But, this close to the Big Apple, you knew that already, right? What to keep in mind when looking for condos in Brookdale, NJ

Finding condos for rent in Brookdale is almost no different than renting an apartment in a big complex. The real difference is the ownership. Condos are owned by individuals within the same building. However, apartments in a large complex are owned by a single landlord or property management group.

Sometimes the price of condos in Brookdale may prove cheaper. The owners are often moving onto a new home or leaving the city and just need someone to cover the costs. Apartment complexes are designed to deal with tenant issues, make repairs, and care for the property. Condo owners will still deal with repairs and upkeep but may need more time to address a problem, especially if they don’t live nearby. However, condo owners have a more vested interest in the property and keeping their tenants happy to reduce turnover.

Choose the best condos for rent in Brookdale that meet your wishlist for budget, amenities, and layout. You probably won’t notice the difference between the condos and apartments you tour.
