If you crave water, Lake Fenton, Michigan is the perfect place for you. No matter which way you turn, you will be looking at one of the many lakes the area is famous for. Each lake seems almost impossibly beautiful. Whether you like to swim, fish, water-ski, kayak, or just watch the sunrise or set over the water, Lake Fenton will be your own personal heaven.
You shouldn't be surprised when talking to some of the locals, if they refer to the area as Long Lake rather than Lake Fenton. For years, it is what the area was called, before the Lake Fenton name was formalized. Michiganders, being a stubborn lot, haven't quite made the change in vocabulary. This can sometimes make getting directions difficult.
Lake Fenton, a part of Genesee County, is an unincorporated community. As of the most recent census, it had a population of approximately 5,600 people. Being surrounded by lakes makes it a desirable place to have a summer house. The community has one airport within 30 miles of its center, and four Amtrak stations near it. So when you need to get away from the area either for business or personal reasons, you should be able to leave your car at home and take advantage of affordable and relatively stress free transportation options.
If at all possible, you should try to arrange things so that you move into your new Lake Fenton address between the months of May and October. Moving during this time period saves you the headache and stress of moving during Michigan's winter season and having to deal with extreme cold, strong winds, and heavy snowfall.
City Center: If you're looking for affordable one bedroom apartments, the city center is the place you're going to want to check out. Although you will be a little further from the lakes that Fenton is famous for than you would be in other parts of the town, the fact that one and 2 bedroom apartments for rent can be hundreds of dollars less than what you would pay in another section of Lake Fenton makes renting in this part of town appealing.
East Lake Fenton: The eastern section of Lake Fenton is a great choice if you want to purchase property in the area, but aren't ready to move there full time. You can find property that you can enjoy during the summer months. During the winter, you can turn the property into an investment opportunity by listing it as one of the many rental properties to Central Michigan University students who want to live near campus, but want a quieter lifestyle than they'd find in Mount Pleasant.
West Lake Fenton: If you love watching the way the water sparkles as the sunsets, you will love living in the western section of town. While it is possible for you to find some summer rental opportunities and condos for rent, most of the available properties are homes that are for sale. A majority of the homes in this section of town, especially the ones that have lake frontage are fairly modern and feature a stately, ornate appearance.
Lake Fenton is a great place to live if you love to walk. Other than the typical commuting, you're going to find that the number of times you have to use your car are few and far between. The way the area is set up, no matter where you live, it's an easy walk to get everything from groceries to the local movie theater. Between the walking and playing in the local lakes, it won't be long before you're in the best shape of your life.
