The tree lined streets of the University neighborhood includes Idaho State University. Many of the homes in this neighborhood were built in the 1940-1970s, but there is also a sufficient amount of newer on-campus housing for students. Keep in mind that late summer and fall is a busy time for most apartment complexes near the Uni. The West Side of “Pokey” has transformed itself (done by neighbors and business owners, not the government) two-fold since the 1990s is now inhabited by young, hip families. Bookstores, bike shops, and brewpubs make this neighborhood ideal for the active and creative types. An abundance of construction dates back to the 1920s and 1930s, with a plethora of single family houses.

Old Town (Downtown) has plenty of smaller studios and one bedroom apartments for rent that make this area perfect for singles (bow chicka wow wow!) Find a studio in a brick building here within walking distance of the University for around $300.

Apartments and homes near Chubbuck Rd and Satterfield Dr tend to be pricier, with rent costs closer to $700 per month. This ‘hood takes the same name and blends into the neighboring city of Chubbuck, a sub-(blending)division you might call it.

Quantity of available units in Scout Mountain Top Rd / South Fork Mink Creek area are sparse but the housing prices of apartments available is still consistent with cost throughout the city. This area that includes great terrain for mountain biking and beautiful wildlife is not so great for finding a new rental. The thickest concentration of rentals near here will be on N. Arthur Avenue or S. Main Street, which boarders Old Town at that point.
