Red Bluff / Ashton: If you like living away from civilization and want to live in a mobile house, come and camp out in this area. You'll have some farms, lakes, and wide stretches of land surrounding in this neighborhood. Because of its rural leanings, make sure you have some sort of vehicle for transportation.
Several events and recreation can keep you busy in this side of Georgia. For one, Fitzgerald prides itself as being a city rich in heritage so history buffs should rejoice. Jefferson Davis Historic Site, Blue and Gray Museum, and Fire Engine Museum are some historic sites that are worth a visit should you want to take a trip down memory lane. Forget Nashville, Fitzgerald has its own take on country and blues music. Just head over to The Colony City Opry in Downtown area and let local musicians dazzle you with an evening of music and fun. In addition, Fitzgerald Arts Council is big on homegrown talent and it's been organizing theatrical productions and events that provide good venues for local artists to converge and pursue their passions. Needless to say, it's going to keep your hands full with exhibits and performances at Carnegie Center or Grand Theatre.
If you'd rather venture out and commune with nature, Fitzgerald also has something for those who are on the lookout for the next adventure. You can go to Paulk Park Campground and check out what makes your adventure hormones bubble. For starters, you can troll the vast lake and try to bait bass and catfish. If that's not exciting enough, you can go camping or hunting near the Ocmulgee River. Aside from wild chicken, you could chance upon a deer or pheasant as your next game.
