Close to various attractions both indoors and out, this little CDP in Douglas County sits about 30 miles from downtown Denver and basks in nearly year round sunshine. Sure, it snows and rains on occasion--this is The Rockies' territory after all--but Denver is lauded as one of the sunniest cities in the nation. All that fine weather encourages locals to get out and enjoy Mother Nature regularly, and folks here are pretty serious about hiking, biking and staying healthy. Now, it's true that The Pinery doesn't have an excess of amenities within its borders, but that's all the better to enjoy the peace, serenity and wide, wide-open spaces of the tree-lined streets and friendly neighbors. Besides, just minutes away are impressive dining venues, unique shops and outlets and stirring art galleries. Wildlife and culture all within a stone's throw, so yeah, you can't beat that with a stick.
While living in The Pinery is filled with magical moments and unforgettable memories, getting there can be filled with stress and anxiety unless you take proper precautions for heading out. Gather Your Docs
Make sure you organize your important papers before you start poring through the rental magazines to find your future abode. Grab your ID, some recent pay stubs and an updated credit report (you did check for inaccuracies, right?) and maybe pick up a cashier's check for that inevitable request for a security deposit. Don't count on them accepting a personal check.
If you find that your credit report is less than inspiring, make sure you ask, cajole or bribe some folks into being references for you. You'll definitely need to appear like a responsible adult to live amongst these woodland gods.
Research the Properties
Now it's time for the best part: the epic search for apartments and housing for rent. Finding your dream rental will be an uphill climb, and not the physical kind you enjoy on the weekends. Sadly, the vacancy rate here is very low, and the vast majority of natives opt for home ownership over the freedom of renting. So finding anything besides a single-family home for rent in The Pinery is perhaps an unreasonable goal, at least within the accepted borders. A little branching out can find you some more options, but if you're committed to living in The Pinery, expect your search to take several months or more. Get comfy.
Moving on to more enjoyable aspects of the residence pursuit, most homes here are a wee bit older, so if you're eager for something with character, especially if you're into fixer-uppers, you're in so much luck. Of course, most places are from the '80s, so claiming they have character is more of a euphemism, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don't forget, no matter what year your domicile was built, it's going to have big rooms and spacious outdoors.

Inside Pinery Parkway: There's a great looping parkway, called Pinery Parkway, that encloses a lush green oblong area of the town, and it's without a doubt the greenest section. Bingham Lake sits in the center and the Pinery Country Club is off to the left. There is also Pinery Park and Northeast Elementary School. As for apartment complexes, head north to Parker to find them, you won't discover any here.
West of HWY 83: The western side doesn't have as much grassy area, but there are still plenty of trees. Homes are closer together, but the neighborhoods have more amenities, like swimming pools and tennis courts. Fortunately, if you're into villas, the Pradera Golf Villa Duplexes are just on the other side of the border, so you can enjoy Pinery living in a rental.
Believe it or not, there's more to living in The Pinery than soaking up sunshine from your spacious backyard, but you'll likely find it in the nearby cities rather than in The Pinery itself. Sure, you can enjoy a few rounds of golf and play in the parks or swimming pools in town, but for greater thrills and adventures, you're going to have to break out of the neighborhood. Why not try The Wildlife Experience for an education on history, fine art and wild animals? Or, head to Castlewood Canyon State Park and hike, sightsee and explore for a day or a weekend. The Town Hall Arts Center gives your noggin a tickle with its showcase of professional actors and performances. Or, enjoy some retail therapy at Park Meadows Mall.
Go For a Drive
The last piece of information you'll need before getting serious about considering The Pinery for your next residence is the transportation situation. Public transit is few and far between here. Everyone drives. Sure, some people carpool, but this is a car-loving town, and getting anywhere, especially Denver, will call for time on the roads. You can tool around on a bike for fun, but you won't get to work that way. Make sure your insurance is up to date before moving in.
