National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states
Apartment List has released results for Santa Clara from the second annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. The survey, which drew on responses from over 30,000 renters, provides insight into what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the 105 million American renters nationwide.
“According to our results, Santa Clara renters are somewhat satisfied with the city overall,” says Andrew Woo, Director of Data Science at Apartment List. “Renters gave a mix of above- and below-average scores.”
Key findings in Santa Clara include the following:
*Based on base prices that don’t include fees
Historic charm defines The Old Quad, where vintage Victorians and California bungalows create architectural character near Santa Clara University. Residents enjoy the walkable downtown with its diverse dining options and the neighborhood's proximity to tech employment along the transportation corridor. Though Silicon Valley housing pressure has increased prices, the area's established character and walkability justify the premium compared to distant suburbs requiring long commutes. Many homes feature distinctive architectural details from wrap-around porches to stained glass windows that create unique living spaces with historical significance.
Planned perfection defines Rivermark, where this distinctive Santa Clara community combines contemporary housing with integrated retail in a walkable district. Rental options include luxury apartments and townhomes with modern finishes and amenities targeting Silicon Valley professionals. While the neighborhood offers exceptional access to both major tech employers and Levi's Stadium events, rental rates reflect the premium Silicon Valley location with limited inventory creating competitive application processes. Particularly appealing to tech professionals seeking turnkey convenience and contemporary amenities who prioritize strategic positioning near major employers with excellent walkability unusual for similarly positioned Santa Clara communities despite premium pricing reflecting these advantages.
