Welcome to Moorpark, a quiet, suburban Southern California city! Though the history of the town dates back to 1887, it wasn’t formally incorporated until 1983. Now let’s take a look at some apartments for rent in the area.

Moorpark is located in Ventura County, close to both Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks, about 55-miles from downtown Los Angeles. The city has seen a lot of growth in recent years, and rents reflect the dominant new, luxury development, as real estate prices here are some of the highest in the nation. So, if you’re looking for an expensive apartment you may have to look elsewhere.

High rents notwithstanding, Moorpark living is pretty easy. With pleasant, mild Southern California temperatures and many family-friendly communities, Moorpark has a much slower pace than neighboring cities. The area is also close to great natural attractions, including Los Padres National Forest and the Sespe Condor Sanctuary.

High Street, the main drag of the historic city center, is home to numerous shopping, dining, and nightlife options. It is also lined with pepper trees that were planted by the city’s founder. The nearby High Street Arts Center hosts several cultural events throughout the year.

Most of Moorpark’s new development has been in suburban-type housing. Moorpark is largely a community of homeowners, so finding a rental that suits your needs and is within your budget can be a bit of a challenge. However, many Moorpark apartment buildings are pet friendly, so you won’t have to worry too much about finding a welcoming home for your furry friends. You just may have to fork over an additional pet deposit. If you need a studio or furnished apartment rental, be sure to allow yourself plenty of time. The primary Moorpark neighborhood is the large town center that extends all the way up to the northern border of Happy Camp Canyon Park. This neighborhood encompasses a wide swath a land, including the area surrounding Moorpark College campus. Campus area apartments will be some of the most affordable in town, generally ranging from $1,500 - $1,700 for a two bedroom.

Many of Moorpark’s luxury apartments for rent can be found on the southern edge of the city center, along East Los Angeles Avenue.
