National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states
Apartment List has released results for Burbank from the second annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. The survey, which drew on responses from over 30,000 renters, provides insight into what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the 105 million American renters nationwide.
“Burbank renters seem very satisfied with their city overall,” says Andrew Woo, Director of Data Science at Apartment List. “Most categories received above-average scores.”
Key findings in Burbank include the following:
Small-town charm permeates Magnolia Park, where locally-owned businesses along Magnolia Boulevard create a distinctive commercial district rarely found in Los Angeles neighborhoods. Residents enjoy the weekly farmers market and the area's walkable access to independent bookstores, vintage shops, and cafes. Though Hollywood studio proximity increases location shooting that occasionally disrupts parking, the trade-off comes in a creative community atmosphere where many residents work in entertainment industries. The neighborhood's 1940s homes feature distinctive architectural details from built-in cabinets to hardwood floors that create character beyond cookie-cutter apartments.
Entertainment industry accessibility defines Chandler Park, where Burbank's central neighborhood offers housing minutes from major studios. The district surrounds its namesake park with recreation facilities, while the nearby Magnolia Park commercial district provides walkable amenities unusual for typically car-dependent Valley communities. Though lacking the trendiness of certain Los Angeles districts, significantly more reasonable rental rates, superior parking situations, and proximity to entertainment industry employment creates compelling value for industry professionals seeking practical advantages beyond purely status-oriented considerations increasingly requiring substantial housing compromises.
Entertainment industry professionals populate McNeil neighborhood, where Spanish-style bungalows and ranch homes create a distinctively residential atmosphere despite proximity to major studios. Residents enjoy Johnny Carson Park's recreation areas and the neighborhood's walkable access to Magnolia Park's boutique shopping district. Though airplane noise from nearby Bob Hope Airport affects northern sections, most homes feature sound insulation mitigating disruption. The area's strong film industry connection creates an atmosphere where creative professionals naturally network through community events and local gathering spots.
