Chris Salviati

Chris Salviati is Chief Economist at Apartment List, where he leads the AL Economics team. With nearly a decade of experience studying and commenting on rental market trends, he has played a foundational role in establishing and growing the housing research program at Apartment List, directing the team’s research on the state of the U.S. rental market and the various factors that shape it, including affordability, demographic shifts, and construction trends.

He serves as a leading voice on the rapidly evolving dynamics of the market, and his expertise has been quoted in a wide range of publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNBC, Vox, and NPR’s Marketplace. Chris has also been a guest on podcasts such as Bloomberg’s Odd Lots and Bigger Pockets, and has given numerous live broadcast interviews, including on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal. He’s also a trusted voice in the multifamily industry, with speaking appearances on the mainstage at AIM, at ZRS’s ZED conference, and on the Gray Report. In addition to these media and industry appearances, Chris has been called upon to participate in a series of regular briefings organized by the White House Domestic Policy Council and HUD, helping to ensure that housing policy decisions at the highest levels are based on an accurate and real-time understanding of market conditions.
