The largest military base in Wisconsin is located here, and the local water is said to have natural healing powers. The Local Artesian Springs in Sparta are known in the area and beyond. Each year, Sparta is home to Butterfest, a celebration featuring local music, a beauty pageant, and (of course) loads of butter. The festival appeals to folks of all ages.
