Cost of living is low in Pulaski compared to the surrounding areas. This includes rental rates, so you are off to a good start! Now, if you are moving from out of state, hiring a realtor might be a good idea; if you are not into that, then start looking for places the moment you come in for your final job interview. It takes a bit longer to find housing in these parts, but this has nothing to do with a lack of housing and more to do with the customary ways of doing things around here.

Pulaski Neighborhoods
The town of Pulaski sits between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Mountains. It covers 7.8 square miles of land space. Though intimate in space and setting, each neighborhood offers unique services and variable commuter access. Choose between living in the historic residential district, downtown or in newly constructed apartments and houses in central areas. It's your call!
Walnut Avenue: This neighborhood is only a short drive from the Historic Commercial District, Jackson Park and the residential district. This is a good area for finding traditional Victorian-style housing. It's not so great if you're looking for studio apartments and modern townhouses.
4th Street NW: This neighborhood has a walk score of 71, which means you can keep your car in the garage and do your errands on foot. It's a six-minute walk to get to downtown; while you're on the way, stop at Bella Pizzeria and grab a slice!
South Washington Avenue: This neighborhood less than half a mile south of town and is only a quick bike ride away if you travel down Washington Avenue. The walk score for this area is a reasonable 55, so around half of your chores and errands can be accomplished without a car.
Living in Pulaski
In Pulaski, you will see neighbors having conversations on front porches and folks taking strolls to the nearest market or shop. That's Pulaski -- a small and inviting town that's also close to big cities, universities and transportation. You only need to drive if you choose to live or work on the outer edges of town; otherwise, you can easily walk everywhere else -- to the schools, shops and restaurants. Lots of leisure activities are available in the surrounding area. Clayton Lake and the New River Valley offer swimming, boating and fishing; Randolph Park has a fantastic community pool; and you can enjoy excellent hiking on the surrounding mountain ranges. Although it may not be the ideal place for nightlife, Pulaski offers an easy pace that'll allow you to really let your hair down!
