The city of Carrizo Springs is located 45 miles north of the Mexican border in southwest Texas, with U.S. Route 83 stretching right through the center of town. The city's name is derived from artesian springs located in the area, which were named for the cane grass that used to grow around them. Although the city was founded in 1865, it did not incorporate until 1910. That is also the same year the Uvalde, San Antonio and Gulf Railroad's opened a line, or spur, into Carrizo Springs, which greatly helped the local economy thrive and grow.

So if you would prefer to find an apartment complex that offers one, two and three-bedroom apartments, your search should start close to the S. 1st St. area, as well as Pena and E. Nopal streets. These are all considered to be in the downtown area and are within throwing distance of the major highways that pass through town, so commuting is a cinch! The further west and north of downtown you go, the more rural the area becomes.

Carrizo Springs is typically hot in the summers and mild in the winters. It does get chilly at night during the winter, but it is easy to adjust, so no worries! Residents enjoy golfing, weather permitting, any day of the week. The best course to play on is the Carrizo Springs Golf Course off of Hwy 85. For a fun night out, try heading over to Red Dog Ice House on N. 1st St. The burgers are juicy, made just the way you want, and the staff is top notch. This is a place where everyone will soon know your name, instantly making you feel right at home!
