Welcome to Utica where you’re just about as far from New York City as Montreal, QC, Canada. The name was actually chosen from suggestions offered at the Revolution-era Bagg's Tavern (a watering hole of George Washington himself). The winner was Utica – Don't ask what name came in second. It's actually named for a city in Tunisia, if that makes it more exciting. With that, let the apartment finding and adventure begin!
Settling down in a new apartment in the Upstate New York city of Utica located on the Erie Canal will expose you to the rich European heritage and a diverse present day influence from many countries. The huge influx of immigration from Bosnia and Somalia in the late 1990s and early 2000s has affected everything from cuisine to daily life, in addition to diverse character as a result of immigration from Thailand, Myanmar, and Iraq. Finding an apartment in Utica that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.
While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend.
