City Guide for Garden City, KS

If you’re looking for property rentals in old Garden City, Kansas then you’ll be happy to know that we've got all the information you could need right here. This guide can get you through all the local tips and tricks to living in this rural community before you make the trip out there, which can really be a timesaver considering the closest major cities are hundreds of miles away.

Garden City is a laid-back town with all the amenities of a major suburban metropolis and none of the nauseatingly normal suburban atmosphere. Around here, trailer parks and rental homes, small apartment buildings and house-conversions make for a very interesting rental market. And, if you enjoy scenery of the Arkansas River and the never-ending land that surround the city, then finding a property rental with a great view will be easy as pie. There are several different pockets in town worth checking out. Main Street is a historic downtown area with some very nice houses and a skyline complimented by the lavish Windsor Hotel (aka "The Waldorf of the Plains"). There’s also a commercial downtown area full of big box stores, such as Wal-Mart, Sam' Club, Sears, Target, etc. Throughout the city you can find a surprisingly diverse collection of eats.

The neighborhoods around Finnup Park to be especially fun, with "The Big Pool" being the coolest place to be in those hot summer months. A water world full of slides and swimming lanes. Also at Finnup Park is a free zoo, and just a few miles away you can find the Buffalo Game Preserve, home to one of the largest herds of bison in the world.

The rental market here is primarily made up of rental homes and mobile homes, with a handful of small apartment buildings. Rates typically range from $300 to $600, so no matter where you look there are cheap apartments and affordable property rentals. Many of the homes around here were built in the 40's and 50's, which gives many neighborhoods that old-town charm. If you’re in need of an apartment community with lots of amenities -- such as a swimming pool, a clubhouse, a fitness center, a laundry room, and sports courts -- then be sure to check out the Greenbriar Village Apartments on the west side of Madison.

So, that's the world of Garden City renting for you. Have fun on the apartment hunt!

What to keep in mind when looking for pet friendly apartments in Garden City, KS

Renting pet-friendly apartments in Garden City should offer peace of mind and convenience for our furry friends. It’s crucial to find an apartment that’ll work for both you and your pet. Before signing a pet-friendly apartment, take your time to study the layout and ask plenty of questions.

Some pet-friendly apartments in Garden City may request a pet deposit or only accept certain dog breeds. You should also consider if the floors are hardwood or carpeted. Hardwood may be easier to clean-up fur and a mess but could mean your neighbors below hear the tapping of your dog running past. An outdoor balcony can also be ideal for a pet who needs some fresh air.

Consider the neighborhood of any pet-friendly apartments in Garden City. Are they near a dog park or a vet? You should also research the rates of dog walkers in your area. It may be less expensive to move to a nearby neighborhood with a lower pet deposit, a better layout for your pet, and cheaper services.
