Frankfort Square is a Census Designated Place that is just north of the village of Frankfort, Illinois. This small area of just over 9,000 people make for a thriving community. There is plenty to see and do within Frankfort Square as well as in the surrounding area. Moving to Frankfort Square

Neighborhoods of Frankfort Square

Frankfort Square is essentially a neighborhood of the village of Frankfort, just to the south. If you are looking for luxury apartments or rental condos then you need to look elsewhere. In this area you will find mostly medium sized homes and townhouses; 3-4 bedrooms being the average. The rental market has historically been tight due to most homes being owner occupied but it's still possible to find a great place if you keep your eyes open. When you do find something you will need to move quickly.

Northern Frankfort Square: You will find mostly owner occupied 3-4 bedroom homes here. This area is also close to several chain restaurants, so your stomach will never be lonely.

South Frankfort Square: There are many 3-4 bedroom, owner occupied homes in this area as well as a few townhouses. Several chain restaurants are nearby as is the Frankfort Historical Society Museum.

Living in Frankfort Square

Once you get settled in your new digs you need to go out and explore your new community. If you like biking then you will love the 21-mile long bike trail that runs along Old Plank Road. This is a scenic trail and is great for a leisurely ride to check out your new community.

If you are a fan of history then you will want to check out the Frankfort Historical Society Museum on Kansas street. This adorable barn like building is a great way to learn all about the history of your new community. There is also a Children's Museum In The Trolley Barn on White Street. This museum features hands-on exhibits that will appeal to the young and the young at heart alike.

By now you have worked up an appetite and if you are in the mood for pizza you will want to head over to Tony's Villa Rosa for the best pizza in town. Tony's has gotten quite a reputation for using fresh ingredients and putting together a great pizza if the reviews on Yelp are any indication. DeBo's Dogs on Harlem also gets great Yelp reviews and it's their Italian Beef that has people coming back. The Ziggy Fries also get great reviews so you might want to add a side of them to your order.

If you are interested in eating healthy then you have an interesting choice in OMG It's Gluten Free, a healthy bakery and cafe on Harlem Ave. They get rave reviews for their muffins and brownies and their turkey sandwiches. Give their gluten free mac and cheese a try for a new experience with an old favorite.

You might also be interested in paying a visit to the Frankfort Country Market. This open air market is for local growers only. You can get the best locally grown fruits and vegetables at great prices. It's open on Sunday's from the end of April until the end of October.
