City Guide

Bellwood, Illinois, offers the small-town charm of the Midwest while putting you within commuting distance to Chicago. It's a great place for families and young professionals to settle down and call home -- you can easily commute into work in Chicago and also pop in for fun, entertainment or a great meal. Bellwood is right off the Metra railroad station that offers easy access to the downtown Loop. You can also hop on the interstate and be in Chicago in the comfort of your own car within 20 m...

Living in Bellwood

Bellwood may be a small town but it packs a big punch. Village Center is the main hub of the city and the area with the highest concentration of restaurants, shops and businesses. It's definitely the place to look if you want a neighborhood where you can walk around and find spots to eat and drink without having to unpark your car. There are a lot of condos -- with both one and two bedrooms -- here in both new developments and older buildings.

Northwest Bellwood has more expensive homes that tend to be larger and more upscale. It's more of a neighborhood for locals than for folks who commute into Chicago for work. The southeastern side of Bellwood has lots of great apartment options and tends to be the most affordable area. Check here if you're looking for a great deal.

There is no shortage of awesome restaurants and entertainment options all over the city. Some of the local favorites include Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, Montego Bay and Gioacchino's Pizza. You can also catch a movie at the AMC Oakbrook Center 12 or the AMC Loews. Safari Land, an indoor amusement park with lots of fun rides you can take the kids to, is just a few minutes away.

Two-Bedroom Apartments in Bellwood

Bellwood is made up of about 23% renters and has a 10% vacancy rate for houses and apartments, which are pretty good odds. You'll have a great chance of finding affordable housing in Bellwood, so you can get settled and start taking advantage of all the fun the area and Chicago have to offer. Take in a Cubs game, check out an art exhibit at the Art Institute, grab a slice of deep dish pizza - the sky is the limit. The average rent for a two-bedroom place in Bellwood is $1,060. That's a lot cheaper than what you'll find in Chicago and you'll also benefit from the lower cost of living in the city proper. It's a popular area for renters with kids as there are great schools in Bellwood and a lot of jobs for parents to find in the Chicago area. It's also super close to O'Hare Airport ,so family and friends will have no trouble getting to you when they're ready to visit your new home.
